HOW MOVING OUT WITH A KEYHOLE GUARANTEE WORKS
This guide provides information on what happens when you move out of a rental property where a deposit guarantee from Keyhole has been used.

NOTE: CONTACT YOUR LANDLORD
In any case, Keyhole must receive notification from your landlord to terminate the guarantee. Therefore, feel free to send a message to your landlord to have your move-out or any claims reported to Keyhole.
When the final settlement is ready, the landlord will notify Keyhole, and you will receive the final settlement in the Keyhole app. This may take up to a couple of months after moving out.
- If the landlord has no claims against you, the guarantee will be automatically terminated.
- If the guarantee is terminated by the 14th of the month, the monthly premium payment for that month will be refunded.
If you have a claim to pay:
You can pay the full amount directly to the landlord or set up a payment plan with Keyhole. If you choose a payment plan, a processing fee of 500 NOK will apply, and the monthly premium will continue until the claim is fully paid.
Keyhole pays the landlord:
If you do not pay the claim, Keyhole will pay it to the landlord according to the agreement you have made.

First, bring up the issue directly with your landlord to try to resolve it.

If you do not reach an agreement, the case must be registered with the Rent Dispute Tribunal (HTU).
Note: The monthly premium to Keyhole will continue as long as the case is being processed.
What is Keyhole Deposit Guarantee?
A deposit guarantee works just like a regular cash deposit, but as a tenant, you don’t have to lock up several months' rent. With Keyhole's solution, you instead pay a smaller amount each month as long as you rent. The monthly cost stops as soon as the landlord reports that everything is in order, or the final settlement is paid, and you have moved out.
