Here is a simple guide that shows you how to create your deposit guarantee.

What is Keyhole Deposit Guarantee?
A deposit guarantee works just like a regular cash deposit, but as a tenant, you don’t have to lock up several months' rent. With Keyhole’s solution, you pay a smaller amount each month as long as you rent. The monthly cost stops as soon as the landlord notifies that everything is in order, or the final settlement has been paid, and you have moved out.
Get the app from the App Store or Google Play.
Here’s how to get started:
Click on the invitation link from your landlord, download the app, and get started.
You will need:
- Credit card
- Passport or other valid identification
- BankID
Create your account by filling in your name and the email address you received the invitation on. Choose a password yourself.
Check "I accept the terms and conditions" and press "Create account."
Keyhole follows strict requirements from the Financial Supervisory Authority, and therefore we need to confirm who you are. Complete your profile and proceed in the app.
After you have created an account, you will receive a confirmation email. Click the link in the email to continue.
Next, you will need to verify your phone number. You will receive an SMS with a code. If you do not receive the SMS, you can contact support for assistance.
Please have your ID document ready and click on "Scan your ID." You will need to scan your ID or take a picture of it.
Valid ID documents:
- Passport
- ID card
Make sure the entire ID is visible, the picture is clear, and there is enough light.
Afterward, you will need to log in with BankID. Please note that your birth number must match the one the landlord has registered. Contact Keyhole Support if you are unable to use BankID.
Keyhole uses a third-party service to validate your identity, ensuring secure handling of personal information.
To assess your application for a deposit guarantee, Keyhole analyzes your bank transactions to get an overview of your financial situation and ensure that you can meet your obligations as a tenant.
You will need to log in with BankID to complete this step.
If the information is incorrect, you can correct it, provide an explanation in the comment field, and possibly upload relevant documentation. This will help speed up the processing of your application.
Approve the credit check, enter your payment card details, and carefully review the terms and conditions.
Finally, you will receive a summary of what the guarantee will cost you per month.
In some cases, we need to manually double-check your identity or payment records, but we always respond within 24 hours (Mon–Fri). In 8 out of 10 cases, you will receive confirmation immediately.
Voila! Now you can save your money in an account and move into your new home.
