1. Notify your landlord of your move-out
The first step in the move-out process is to inform your landlord that you wish to move out of the property. This must be done in accordance with the notice period in your tenancy agreement.
2. Move-out inspection with your landlord
Once you have notified your landlord of your move-out, you need to arrange a move-out inspection with your landlord. This inspection typically takes place on your last day of tenancy and aims to assess any damage or defects in the property.
3. Waiting for the move-out statement
After the move-out inspection, it often takes 6-8 weeks for the landlord to prepare the final move-out statement. The statement will include an overview of the costs the landlord has had in restoring the property after the tenant moved out.
4. Access to the move-out statement in the Keyhole app
Once the move-out statement is ready, it will be made available to you in the Keyhole app. You will receive a notification and an email so that you can review your statement.
If you disagree with your move-out statement, you must file an objection. Read more about objections here.
5. Payment of the move-out claim
If there is an outstanding amount in the move-out statement, it must be paid by the specified deadline. The payment is made directly through the designated payment methods in the Keyhole app.
Are you unable to pay your move-out claim all at once? Then you can apply for a payment plan under your claim in the Keyhole app.
6. Closing your guarantee
Once all outstanding matters in Keyhole have been resolved, your guarantee can be closed, and your case will be fully settled.
