What if my landlord and I disagree about a claim on my security deposit?

If you disagree with a claim from your landlord, do not approve the settlement.

The deposit remains in the security deposit account until the matter has been resolved in accordance with the Norwegian Tenancy Act.

If you cannot reach an agreement, the matter can be taken to the Rent Dispute Tribunal (Husleietvistutvalget) or resolved through another documented solution that provides a basis for releasing the funds.
